Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how Tim Langner / Timedia(“we”) uses cookies and similar technologies on https://cellar.fm and related tip flows for Cellar.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Similar technologies include local storage and pixels. Some are strictly necessary for the site or checkout to work; others are optional.

2. Strictly necessary cookies

The marketing site is largely static. Hosting / CDN infrastructure may set cookies or process technical data needed for security, load balancing, abuse prevention, or basic delivery. These are treated as strictly necessary where they are required for the service you request.

The homepage also keeps the list of the latest Cellar release downloads in your browser’s session storage for up to an hour, so the Download button can pick the right installer. It is not used for analytics and is cleared when you close the tab.

3. Analytics

The marketing site uses Umami, an open-source analytics tool that we host ourselves at stats.cellar.fm on a Hetzner server in Falkenstein, Germany. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and does not track you across other sites.

When a page loads, your IP address is processed in memory to look up your approximate location (country, region and city, using a database on our own server) and to compute a pseudonymous visitor ID from a salted hash, with a salt that rotates monthly. The IP address is not stored. Umami stores individual events linked to that visitor ID: the page address (including campaign parameters such as UTM tags) and page title, the referrer, browser, operating system, device type, screen size and language, your approximate location (country, region and city), and clicks on Download and Buy me a coffee. We look at the data only as aggregate statistics. No third party receives it.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Analytics events older than 25 months are deleted. Encrypted backups of our server, kept on Hetzner storage in Germany, may hold deleted analytics data for up to 12 more months. See the Privacy Policy for details.

4. Ko-fi tip checkout

When you use the optional coffee / tip flow (https://ko-fi.com/cellarfm), you leave the static marketing pages and enter Ko-fi. Ko-fi may set its own cookies and process payment data under its terms and privacy policy. We do not control those cookies. A download of Cellar does not require this checkout.

5. Managing cookies and consent

  • You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may break parts of the site or tip checkout.
  • If a consent banner or preference center is deployed, use it to accept or reject optional cookies.
  • If consent tooling that honors Global Privacy Control (GPC) is deployed, we will honor GPC for optional cookies through that tooling.
