Feature
A YouTube Music mini player that stays on top
Pop Cellar out into a small floating card that sits above every other window, so the controls are one click away while you work, game or browse.
Free for macOS (Apple Silicon), Windows, and Linux. Needs a YouTube Music account.
Open it
Click the pop-out button in the player bar, choose Window ▸ Mini Player, or press Cmd+Shift+M on a Mac (Ctrl+Shift+M on Windows and Linux). The main window steps aside and the music keeps playing.
What it does
- Hover the cover to reveal play and pause, previous, next, a seek bar, volume, shuffle, repeat and like.
- Scroll over the cover to change the volume.
- Watching a music video? The mini player shows the video, in step with the audio.
- The ⋯ menu adds songs to the queue, starts a radio or copies a link without leaving the mini player.
- Drag it anywhere and resize it. Cellar remembers where you left it.
- Back to app returns to the full window without a break in the music.
On Windows, also in the taskbar
Hover Cellar's taskbar icon for previous, play and pause, and next buttons under the thumbnail, with a progress bar on the icon itself. Media keys and the Windows media card work too.
Questions
Does YouTube Music have a mini player on desktop?
The YouTube Music website has a player bar inside the browser tab, but no window that floats over other apps. Cellar's mini player stays on top of everything.
Does the music stop when I switch to the mini player?
No. Playback carries on without a gap when you pop out and when you go back to the full window.
Cellar works with a free or Premium YouTube Music account. YouTube Premium perks (including ad-free listening) stay with Google. Cellar is an independent project and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, YouTube or Google.
